  5. 'Mental strength' by Iain Abernethy.

Many people have dreams they would like to realise and aspects of their lives they would like to change. However, relatively few people have the mental strength needed to break outside their comfort zone and take the steps required to change their lot in life and make their dreams a reality. This book explains how to develop a mind strong enough to push past all obstacles so that nothing will be able to stand between you and your goals. Mental Strength gives clear, encouraging guidance on how to develop a strong and powerful mind, grow your talents, become the person you want to be, and live the life you want to live.

'Karate-do:   My way of life' by Gichin Funakoshi.

Various forms of empty-hand techniques have been practised in Okinawa for centuries, but due to the lack of historical records, fancy often masquerades as fact. In telling of his own famous teachers-and not only of their mastery of technique but of the way they acted in critical situations-the author reveals what true karate is. The stories he tells about himself are no less instructive: his determination to continue the art, after having started it to improve his health; his perseverance in the face of difficulties, even of poverty; his strict observance of the way of life of the samurai; and the spirit of self-reliance that he carried into an old age kept healthy by his practise of Karate-do.

'Angry white pyjamas' by Robert Twigger.

An absolutely fascinating story of a year's worth of traditional Aikido training. Excellent reading for those who have the 'new-age' view of Aikido as all "sweetness and light". I really enjoyed this book... and couldn't put it down. Filled with 'dojo stories' and the difficulties of a foreigner living in Japan, this book will give you a very good idea of how Yoshinkan Aikido is practised.

'The art of war' by Sun Tzu.

Considered the first ever war strategy book, 'The Art of War' tracks many of the major aspects of war including attacking while the others are not ready, supplying an army, and knowing your enemy’s next move before it makes it. I could say more, but it would give away too much since it is less than 100 pages.

  6. Bubishi, Hagakure, Book of Five Rings, Art of War, Tao Te Ching, Death Touch-The Science behind Dim Mak, How to Fight a Grappler and Win, Torite Jitsu, Tuite Jitsu, The Essence of Shaolin White Crane, Reflex Violence, The Root of Chinese Qigong, Advanced Chin Na Application, Muscle/Tendon Changing&Marrow/Brain Washing Chi Kung, Tao of Jeet Kune Do... and I'm sure there are many, many others.
