Can anyone recommend the best sealer for a redwood fence?

Im about to build a redwood fence... can someone please recommend the best sealer for redwood? Thanks!

  1. i build hexagon picnic tables out of redwood, or cedar, i have found that what works the best for me here in the midwest is boiled linseed oil, which is the main ingredient in most all sealers. redwood, and cedar both tend to turn a grayish color after time the linseed oil seems to keep them looker better for much longer than the commercial sealers, not to mention considerably cheaper. just make sure it is BOILED linseed oil, if not it will leave a sticky coating on the fence that will never dry


  2. Check with a local paint store. The one I used was called Clear Solution- can't recall the manufacturer.

  3. Thompsons Water Seal.

  4. I like Superdeck "Duxback". My neighbor the painting contractor swears by Cabot's.
