Citizens' Band radio (CB) is, in most countries, a system of short-distance, simplex[1] radio communications between individuals on a selection of 40 channels within the 27 MHz (11 meter) band. Still got a big colection of classic rigs, was on the CB until about 1993 when I guess I called it a day (other commitments etc...).

Locally, it's pretty dead TBH which is nice if you want a chat withoutr being disturbed but also pretty boring most of the time!

BUT: The 'skip' or sunspot cycle is set to begin rising so over the next few years long distance 'copies' will become reality again (worldwide) so that may be motivation for me to fire up one of the radios again!

I didn't really get involved till the 1990s (even though I had the equipment after someone gave me their old setup after the CB radio craze went bust)

But the handle I used is actually my ID here on yahoo..go figure.. someone had taken the original gearbox, so I had to become Gearbox1....

But didn't stay too long on AM other than friends local to me... moved onto sideband where I talked furthur and the people are a lot nicer...

well in 82 i was still in my mams belly but later on ion life got into CB was and still are misskitti7 on it.

meet my now husband off the CB radio 10 years ago we married 3 years ago.

still have one in the truck and the kitchen and one in the bedroom it is a lot quieter these days,think the net with it's real time chat programs brought about the death of the CB radio but i still have a lot fun with mine i live in the UK and have some very good friends states side i talk to weather permitting

CB radio's?  We had one in the early 70's. I thought the only one's that had them after 1977,  with such movies as Burt Reynold's "Smoky and the Bandit" and "Cannonball Run",

were Truckers, prostitutes,  and renecks. i.g. "The Dukes of Hazard".  ;-)

I also know that the term "Good Buddy" changed from being a pal to nowadays "Good Buddy" being your homosexual partners.

Although there were hundreds, of slang, here are some code of the 10. series:

ive still got a cb in my truck most truck drivers still use them but dont really bother with handles any more why dont you get another one

we have one in our hunk of c**p van, we use it all the time when travelling.  Havent really heard much handles used sincle high school (late 90's).

Lol yeah my mum used to have one and her handle was Scorpion - I was a little scared when we had thunder storms though because she had a 20 foot aerial right outside my bedroom window

Sure do.  Hubby still drives a truck too.  I was Diamond.  So that he wouldn't forget to get me a nice diamond ring for our wedding.  Well, 22 years later, I'm still waiting!  LOL.
