  1. Naples was also Greek Colony, in fact it was founded by the Greeks thousands of years.  It is one of the oldest continuous cities on earth.  There are several names for this city Italian Napoli, Neopolitan (the local dialect) - Nàp**e among others. Followed by the Romans.  As well as Pompei and Ercolano, there are several Roman sites in Pozzuoli and The Monte Di Procida.  During Roman times it was a very popular area to vacation for Roman Emperers and the wealthy.  La Terme di Baia, or the spas of Baia were visited by the emperor Nero.

The city was settled by several other groups including The Hapsburgs(Austrians), Spanish, Bourbans, and French and many others.  This variety of settlement can be seen in it's architecture.

In addition it is the home of the PIZZA (the world's greatest) it is also the home of the famous Mozzerella di Bufala.  Naples has it's own language and it is probably the most energitic city in Italy.  I hope you enjoy Naples!!

    Hai divertimento a Napoli!!!

  2. This is my favorite:

Naples is by tradition the home of pizza. It is the birthplace of the Pizza Margherita, which traditionally is made with mozzarella cheese, pomodoro (tomato) and basil -representing, respectively, the red, white, and green of the Italian flag. The pizza was named when it was served to Queen Margherita during a visit to the city. La vera pizza ("true pizza") is made in a wood-burning oven similar to a Tandoori oven. There is a certification body that issues recognition to pizza places around the world that have been deemed to make true Neapolitan pizza.

LOL! You've got to try their pizza. (--,)

  3. It used to be a Spanish colony. Was an important port as far as trading goes. Mt. Vesuvius, the volcano that erupted and buried Pompeii, overlooks the city. The world famous Island of Capri is just off the coast, and of course the Pizza came from here. Its a fairly dirty city, traffic is heavily congested (one of the most expensive cities in the world as far as auto insurance goes). Hot and dry in the summer. A decent place, overall.
