  1. Card counting requires HUNDREDS of hours of practice.  It's one thing to be able to count at home, in your living room.  It's another thing entirely to be able to do it accurately, in a casino.

Note:  And even with all this work, at most you can hope to gain a 1 or 2% edge over the casino.

Studying basic strategy, and learning how to count cards, can be a lot of fun.  I myself own more than 40 books on the game.  It was my hobby for many years.  However, don't expect to break the bank.  The minute you start winning, any casino can ask you to stop playing.  It's a LOT of work for very little reward.  It requires you to play a LONG time to make sure the laws of probabilities work in your favor.  Even when you have an edge, you can still lose.

  2. watch 21

  3. Sorry, world worse at black jack, but can wish you luck. Just the same.

  4. 2-6= +1

    7-9= 0

    A-10= -1

Count all cards dealt out, if you get a number +2 or higher, increase your bet. Any lower decrese your bet (this is for a 1 deck game) If your in a multiple deck game count the numbers so if you have +2 you then divide that number by the numbers of deck left. So if 3 decks are left or so 2/3= .66 DECREASE your next bet.

  5. I count cards every time I play blackjack. I have never been banned from the tables at any casino. I won't go into specifics, but will tell you I am a lifetime positive player (i.e., I' up) at the game of blackjack.

Anyone who tells you that counting cards is super difficult has never tried it, or used a professional level system and couldn't handle it. Card counting can be very difficult if you use a very complicated system, but can also be very simple if you're just looking play recreationally. I guarantee you that with the right system, anyone who's not a complete dunderhead at basic math can learn to count cards well enough to take it to the casinos within a couple of weeks. It's totally worth the trouble for anyone that plays blackjack more than a few times a year.

And you don't have to do anything conspicuous that's going to get you kicked out of the casinos. Sure, you might not gain an "advantage" if you don't use a proper bet spread, but with minimal changes you can wipe out the casino's edge using play changes and small bets spreads (1-3 units). Here's an example: Every blackjack book in existence tells you never to play insurance, right? Well, if you're counting cards, one of the first things you learn is that with certain counts, insurance becomes a good bet. Knowing when to take insurance alone will make you a better playing than 99.9% of the people who sit at the tables.
