  1. I used to have cable but switched to Directv.  I am very happy with Directv.  You get MANY more channels for the price.  The only negative for satellite is when the weather is bad (rain/snow) our tv may go out until the weather clears up.  It happens...not too often....I live in Michigan.

  2. We switched from Comcast to Dish.

We get more channels, HD, and 2 DVRs (1 HD, 1 non-HD) for less money than what we were paying Comcast for their non-HD Basic+Extended package.

My only complaint is that the HD DVR is quite buggy. It crashes a lot, and complains that 35 different shows/timers is just too much for it.  Odd, we had over 50 on our old series 1 Tivo which is over 8 years old, and it never complained or crashed (well, it crashed when the hard drives died...but that's not surprising.)

  3. I switch from Charter TV to Directv and its the best experience ever! I heard mixed reviews about Dish but I can tell you Directv customer service and selection of programing is 'top shelf'. Any time I have had a problem or wanted to change programing, its as simple as a mouse click or short telephone call. Not to mention adding HD channels is only 9.99 to the package price.

I suggest picking up Directv when they have their NFL Sunday ticket or 6 free months of premiere programing, with either a free dvr or free HD receiver.

directv.com  (can give ya referral too ;p )

  4. I have Directv HD and wouldn't want anything else - it's been a good experience I would say.  It seems Dish subscribers are really disappointed that dish is so far behind direct on HD channels and still struggling with their HD satellite.

I've NEVER had reception problems with it through rain, clouds, and even heavy snow.  But I think HD (different dish and satellite) performs better that way.
