Can anyone solve this scary puzzle!?

Question

Three men go to a hotlel to spend a night. the room is $30. The three men pay $10 each.

Then the manager then realises that the room was only $25, so he asks the porter to go to their room and give the $5 back to the 3 men. But the porter can't split $5 between 3 people. So he gives the men each $1 and takes $2 for himself.

So the men payed $9 each for the room, add the $2 that the porter took, that only makes $29!

Where has the other $1 gone?!

The men gave 30 but room was 25. Porter give 1 to each man keeps 2  25+1+1+1=28 then 28+2=30

It all works out

The bellboy was sent to return the $5 to the 3 men, so he gives $1 to the first man, $1 to the 2nd man and $1 to the 3rd man and keeps $2 himself.   1+1+1+2= $5

well, the truth is, there is no missing dollar.

It's how the question is phrased that fools people =). you see, when the 3 men takes back a dollar each, it's true that they only pay $9 each, which is $27 in total. But, you can't add the $27 with the $2 that the bellboy has, because the $2 is not meant for payment, so you cannot add the $2 to the $27 that they're paying. Instead, you should minus off the $2 from the $27, although it cannot be split between 3 men, but it should be returned as well. so, $27-$2 = $25, which is the correct answer. It's about accounting =).
