The reigning Welsh Open champion, Ali Carter, has impressed in this year’s tournament with convincing victories against Mark Davis and Neil Robertson. His opponent in the quarter-finals, Ryan Day, has the ability to win – but whether or not he’ll be able to produce his best snooker two matches in a row remains to be seen.
If he makes it to the semi-finals, he will avoid many of the tournament’s best players. And then, should he make it to the final, he could potentially face Ronnie O’Sullivan or Mark Selby in the competition’s decisive match. Carter really does appear to have a superb chance of retaining his title.
