Depending on how long the life insurance has bee in force - there is normally a "2 year incontestability period" - if death occurs within the first two years, an insurance company will probably have more investigations to do than normal.

if the person that paid for the life insurance is dead and someone is question the beneficiary then that person can stop the insurance company from pay the insurance out till things are settled.

But you would need a lawyer to do it.
