Can anyone suggest a good anime?

Only one anime I love.

Death Note. Seriously.

I love how it is so thought provoking yet it is not flooded with filler like Naruto. It is a dark anime yet it shows both philosophies of the characters quite well. It includes major twists in plot and keeps you guessing until the final episode where everything plays out and you leave the room with a look that says, "Wow, didn't see THAT coming!"

Don't know if there are many like that out there. If so, can you get them at local renters?

try d.gray-man. the plot is highly intricate and in depth and the characters are really well done.  at first, the plot takes one path, that you would think is certain to remain as constant for the rest of the series, but then it begins to take a turn for the worse, utterly placing you in consternation about what's to come.  and it gets more in depth and keeps you guessing on what will happen next. the anime is really well done and i cant seem to know of any other anime that rivals this. the anime is true to the manga so what you see in the anime is what you get exactly in the manga and the series is still ongoing as it is a fairly recent anime. you can watch d.gray-man at megavideo.com or animefuel.com or veoh.com. it's definitely worth watching and believe me, cause i've already watched death note and i certainly love this anime and prefer it better.  it is a mix of action, adventure, comedy, drama, fantasy, horror and supernatural.

I also like thought provoking anime! :D Try these:

Neon Genesis Evangelion (including the movie "The End of Evangelion." Don't bother with the movie "Death and Rebirth though; it's just a recap of the Eva series and the 1st half of "End". )

It has a cool option wherein you just choose the anime you've already watched and loved, then it shows you a list of similar anime, other titles that are similar in plot, story line, characters, animation, etc



Aside from that, it also has lots of information on thousands of anime. Information like: Synopses, Reviews, year started, year ended, etc.
