Question:

Can anyone suggest a midweight low maintenance cruiser?

I'm 6'1" and 170 lbs. I'd like a low maintenance bike (self adjusting valves or long valve intervals and shaft drive) for running errands and going on road trips with my girlfriend. So I'd like something that is comfortable for someone who is a bit taller. I've looked online at the Boulevards, Vulcan, Virago, Vstars, KLR's, and Shadow's but I have no idea whether any of these will be comfortable and low maintenance. Any help totally appreciated!

  1. ive got a v star and love it but they have mechanical valves. i think the honda shadows have valve lifters so they'd self adjust

  2. Maybe you should look into the GSX1300R

  3. I'm very fond of the Honda cbr600f4i but it is more of a sport bike but it is very comfortable and not very much maintence.

  4. contrary to what the flamers around here say, a harley will be low maintenance.... belt needs adjustment at 1000 miles and then never again very few ever have to replace a belt.... no chains or sprockets to wear like a honda,

no coolant flushes/leaks, owners manual actually tells you how to do your own maintenances

    no valve adjustments

easy tire swaps unlike a shaft drive

  5. Look at the Hyosung GV650 it is a outstanding cruiser

  6. As a rule, long legged people aren't allways the most comfortable on cruisers.  Kawasaki VN 800 is a nice bike though.  It's not a massive cc and it's not the heaviest but at the same time it's quite a good sized bike.  Some mid weight cruisers have a nasty habit of looking like a 125.
