Can anyone suggest any strategy games for the PC?

Question

I loved Rome: Total War and things like that (mainly because of the history) but can anyone offer any suggestions for any other similar games or any strategy games old or new (preferably to the standard of Rome Total War).

Also is there any point getting the Alexander expansion pack?

Civilization IV

Best. Strategy. Franchise. Ever.

Rise of Nations is also very good. I especially like the Conquer the World mode, it's like Risk except instead of rolling dice you do RTS missions.
