I'm going for a really long trip with my family and I can read without getting sick. I like Stephanie Meyer, Janet Evanovich, Diana Gabledon & Anne Stuart. I like action or stories set in the 1700's. I don't mind if there Romance books as long as someone is trying to kill the Protagonist or there's lots of suspense. I don't mind long books but if its by someone I haven't read yet then I like to keep them at a medium length. They can't be new cause I need to be able to get them at the library. Thanks.

  1. I'm not sure you would find them in a library or not.  The first one was released in 2007.  I would recommend Colleen Gleason's series The Gardella Vampire Chronicles.  I'm not usually one for historical books, but these are some of the best vampire/romance books I've ever read.  (And I've probably read over 200).  They take place in 19th Century London and there is a fair amount of action.  No need to worry about some scary things going after the heroine, either.  I hope you'll give them a shot.  Colleen Gleason has a web site that I believe has some excerpts.  That might help you make a decision.  Have a fun trip!

  2. The House on the Borderland , The Ghost Pirates or The Night Land written by William Hope Hodgson .

  3. LITTLE DORRIT by Charles Dickens

    THE WARDEN by Anthony Trollope

LITTLE WOMEN by Louisa May Alcott

THE RIDDLE OF THE SANDS by Erskine Childers

  4. Since you mention you like old classic books, and since many people are invariably going to suggest you classics (and so do I), you may want to try the following resource:

    http://www.webliterature.net/literature

It is a classic literature website where you can read a ton of full-text classic books for free, and it is fully search-able and no login is needed.

  5. Anything Nicholas Sparks. I recently read A Bend in the Road, and the protagonist is looking for someone who murdered his wife.

  7. If you like Stephanie Meyer, maybe her new book Breaking Dawn, or her book The Host.

  8. Lisa Gardner and Karen Slaughter write good thrillers.  You could also try Sue Grafton.  Have a good trip.

  9. Try joining up on RomanceNovelsForum.com . The members might have recommendations. :)

  10. Iris Johansen is fantastic. She does mainly suspense and murder mysteries and there is always a little romance thrown in. The first book of hers that I read and loved was called "The ugly duckling" and I have been collecting her books ever since. If you do start to read her, make sure you check if it is a recurring character because otherwise you may get confused in a few of them.
