  1. christchurch, it's the car capital of the coutry. I'm from the bottom of NZ in Invercargill and all the people I know from Auckland to here go to Christchurch. I paid ten thousand for my car and I looked in Auckland, Dunedin and my home town and it was between 3000-4000 more.

  2. Use www.trademe.co.nz which is our equivalent to ebay.

  3. "yellow pages" if they do have yellow pages in there though lolol

  4. Best way is to try the web for Backpakers sites as these list car rentals and sometimes, travles wanting to sell their camper van.  becearful of what you are buying, $10,000 seems a lot for a cheap van, something like $200 - $1500 NZD is about average. Again try the New Zearland Moter Traffic Office and see what help they have listed in buying a van.  From my experience, there is no real hassle about camping out by the wayside, through caravan parks have the amentites one is use to.  The big thing over there is waste control, they don't like waste fluids being dumped onto mother earth, so each camp site or van park has recyling unites for the dumping of waste water from WC's and showers etc,  The north island is totally different from the south island.  It is as if they are two different countries with the same name.  Enjoy you tripwhen there.

  5. Go to Turner's Car Auctions (look 'em up in white pages) or there's a place in Tauranga where you can get one from the biggest motorhome dealer in NZ. Also try trademe.co.nz or there's a motoring trade magazine which comes out weekly called AutoTrader
