  1. in school we had to put the whipping cream into a jar and shake it until it would turn into butter. It would take forever.

It is a lot easier to pour the whipping or heavy cream into a bowl and mix it with an electric handblender. That way it will only take about 10 min. Mix it first into whipped cream and continue until it gets harder and turn into butter. You can add some salt if you like your butter salted but it is not necessary.

  2. you have internet access but can't get butter?

  3. Start with some heavy cream.

put it in a small jar with a thight fitting lid.

Shake the jar over and over. It won't be long before you start noticing solid pieces forming. - this is butter!

its a fun project to do with children.

  4. Use your johnson

  5. fat...churn

  6. heaving whipping cream, a bit of salt, jar with lid, pour the two in into the jar and shake shake shake.

  7. When my kids were small we made butter.   Take whole milk and put it in a jar and shake the h**l out of it.  You will see it start to get thick and before you know it, it will turn to butter.  You may want to put a litle salt in the milk before you start shaking it.  Also there will be a little liquid left, this is called whey.  Remember the nursery rhyme, with curds and whey.  The curds are the butter.

  8. get some heavy cream put in a jar with shake of salt and then shake the jar vigorously and it will turn to butter. or do the same in a mixer and mix until it turns to butter

  9. I don't care what anyone says I use butter all the time over any of those over processed "spreads" and substitutes. Have you seen how they are actually made? Just terrible. I haven't attempted to make my own butter but it sounds easy enough, if this recipe in the latest issue of Grow Your Own magazine is anything to go by.

Leave Double Cream to warm to room temperature

Pour into a clean jar until one third full. Tightly s***w on lid and shake jar up and down until butter starts to form

keep shaking - up to 30 minutes they recommend (that's going to hurt!) until there is a lump of butter in the liquid (buttermilk)

Drain buttermilk into a cup and fill jar with cold water. Swirl butter around and carefully pour water away. Repeat until water is clear

Put butter on a board and press down on to it to force out and remaining buttermilk. Any left inside will make the butter go sour.

    Wrap and refrigerate.

  10. Simple!

    It's fun too.

Put some heavy cream into a jar and s***w on the lid.

    SHAKE!

Watch it and you'll start to see the butter separate out.

You'll end up with butter and skim milk in the jar.

If you want it salted, or flavored, add this after you taste it plain.
