Can anyone tell me, how long lollypop ladies/men, are allowed to hold up traffic?

I live in Ireland, and the school traffic warden held up traffic for so long! She was virtually letting the whole school cross the road! I beeped as I had to get to my daughter in school, but she just held up traffic even when no one was on the road! She waited for the next lot to come!

I am assuming that you live in northern Ireland with UK legislation.  If this is so the warden can stop traffic by displaying the authorised sign whilst children are crossing or seeking to cross for as long as it may ne necessary.  If you live in the Irish republic then the case may well be different. So be patient.  I wonder if your daughter ever got to school?  After all she may have encountered a school crossing warden who once she got out of the car was made her wait in preference to letting the cars pass by, does this seem reasonable?

They can hold up the traffic for as long as they see fit.

The power goes to their heads and they go a bit strange.

You should fell sorry for the poor soul who`s job it is to stop traffic in all weathers so the kids dont get run over. If only they had listend in school rather than drawing pictures of willys maybe they would have a better job.

Sounds like she's gone power crazy! LOL We have one near us who is brilliant, he stands there in all weathers and is always "traffic friendly".

I dont think theres any restriction, just as long as it takes for the kids to get safely across. I'd have a bit more patience if i were you, imagine if it was you and your daughter that the lollipop lady was holiding the traffic up for and someone was beeping at you

In the U.S. only police officers are allowed to control traffic.  The crossing guards only serve to stop walkers when there are cars coming.  That IS ridiculous though.

I'm a lorry driver and very proud and courteous and patient,

if i was the lolly pop person I'd do the same,

just as if I'm performing a manoeuvre in a road and people beep at me I'll just take longer,

you are no more important than any other road user because you are to lazy to set a good example to you're child and walk her to school. I suggest that you learn how to remain calm behind the wheel before you're attitude kills someone!

That depends on whether they are holding a giant lollipop stick or a machine gun.

You peeped her, so she though "fu*k you", and rightly so, and made you wait.  

Excellent education you give your Daughter there, be pushy, beep the lollipop lady, charming.
