I keep seeing a lot of people saying that they are not voting at all, even though they usually vote republican. What has he done or not done that people don't agree with?

I really know nothing about the man and I should, but where do I start?

Thanks in advance.

  1. i think he is the lesser of two evils to be quite honest.

  2. There are many reasons. I'll give you one.

John McCain wants to re-fight the Vietnam War, but in Iraq. Both wars were horrible mistakes. It's time to start withdrawing American troops from Iraq, NOT to say we are there for the next 100 years if necessary.

  3. he isnt...thats just it

  4. McCain is not a conservative, and he is not a friend to conservatives. While he has, from time to time, taken conservative positions on issues, this is largely a fluke of happenstance.

McCain’s overall record reveals a man at odds with the conservative movement on nearly every important issue, from campaign finance reform to tax cuts to immigration. I will grant that McCain has been steadfast on the war. For many Republican and independent voters, that may be reason enough to vote McCain. But let us be honest. John McCain is a deeply flawed candidate with a public record that is not conservative by any definition.

So he is not really conservative.  But he is not a friend to liberals (disclosure: I am a liberal -- except when I am not)

McCain said that irresponsible homeowners are getting their just desserts when 4 million of them are facing foreclosure. He further suggested that the ones in trouble are the people who refuse to get second jobs. He did suggest that we might consider giving consumers more Truth in Lending disclosures, a proposal that he voted against a few months ago and one that everyone (including McCain a few months ago) acknowledges would be of no meaningful assistance in the current crisis and unlikely to avoid similar problems in the future. He did come out though in favor of bailing out financial institutions which bought heavily into bad mortgages if their troubles presented a “systemic” threat.

This mortgage crisis is serious. It, according to the Economist, involves 1.1 trillion dollars. McCain seems to be saying “Wake me up if our system starts to collapse.”

The Economist, which was taken seriously by Republicans before the party was hijacked by ideologues, suggests that regulation is appropriate, that a systemic fix is in order as unregulated investment banking presents a risk of serial bailouts. It also suggested the government might buy some of the subprime debt because it could be acquired at a fire sale discount. The government could then work with the home owners and might very well profit be the investment.

Some people say he would be 8 more years of Bush. I think he are stoopider.

(A goof on Bush saying `Is our children learning?`)

  5. He is as old, tired and worn out as the bad policies and status quo that he supports.

  6. His Attitude , sucks period.!

  7. He wants to stay in Iraq, which means more liberal Republicans don't like him.

He wants environmental reform, which pisses off the Neocons.

He's got problems with both the left and right members of his party. He is not a very good candidate for the Republicans.
