  1. baby tears is great

edit: i have kept baby tears in cold and warm water without lighting or CO2 it is very easy to keep and you can reproduce it by cutting it and planting the trimmings

so in response to nosoup4u i find it very easy to keep but maby you have had different experiences with it

  2. I have a banana lily, they are really fast growing and hardy.  The fish don't eat it and it doesn't get dislodged like a lot of plants do.  Also I have a lace fern, same again.

Here's a link for the banana lily:

  3. Java Moss, Java Fern, Anubias, Crypts, Swords, Water Sprite, and lilies are good starter plants for low tech tanks, but do require quality light, meaning a spectrum between 5,500 and 6,700K of light should be provided.  Baby Tears is among the most difficult plants to grow.

  4. I think Water Sprite is the easiest plant to grow. You will have to cut it back frequently. It gives nice protection for babies also.

Java Fern is another good one.

    Good Luck!
