Can anyone tell me about Dave & Buster's?

My husband and I are thinking about going to the Atlanta Dave & Buster's for our 2nd anniversary in October. Neither of us have been there before, so can you guys tell me what it is like? I've been to their website, but it isn't really helpful.

Also can someone please explain these "Power Cards"? I collect points on My Coke Rewards, and they have an option to use my points to get a $10 Power Card, so I didn't know if this would be a good investment or not, especially since it will not cost me anything to get the card. If i get a $10 card how long will it last me? Is that the average price for 1 game, or what?

Also, what kinds of games do they have?

Finally, how much money are we going to need to have a good time? I suppose we will be eating there as well.

  1. Well, my only source of information for you is from going to the one in St. Louis.  It's basically divided into 2 areas, a bar/restaurant area, and the game room.

Power cards are what you need to play pretty much every game in the game room.  You purchase one and fill it up with an amount of money which is translated into points.  Then each game has a number of points that are required for a game, and it varies depending on what game it is.  They have all sorts of games here, ranging from driving games, and such to skill games like skeeball and shooting.  It's really a wide range.  There is also a bar in the game room and some booths if you want to sit and eat in there, but it's a lot noisier.

The restaurant bar is a lot nicer and much quieter.  The food is pretty good as far as I remember and the prices are reasonable for a sit down dinner at a nicer place $10-$20 an entree.

So to answer your question about how much you will need, it's going to depend on how much you want to play games, and how much you have to drink.  I would say you're looking at a minimum of $50, but could easily spend much more than that if you really want to.

  2. From what I've seen on TV is like Chuck E Cheeses but for Adults! Have Fun!!

  3. Dave and Buster's is like a grown up chuck-cheese, or a casino for all ages. U basically play games for tickets then count up your tickets and you can get prizes. But the prizes range from shirts, boxers, and flip flops to ash trays, playstations, and even cameras. The power card you asked about is when you by your card(which is like your tokens to play the games)  you load it with so many credits how ever many you want and it will then give you an option to make it a power card for so many more dollars and you will get so many extra credits(tokens) you slide a debit card and purchase it. Then find a game you want to play look at how many credits it costs slide your card and play play play. I really enjoy Dave and Busters, and usually about $50 will keep you having fun for hours just depending on often you play each game. some games are 2 credits some are 3.2 credits and some are even as high as 9 or 10 credits. Don't forget to get your tickets out of the machines. Also keep the card because next time you go you can reload it. I have never eaten there so i dont know food prices, but they do have a liqour bar at the one in Nashville and those prices are outrageous. Like, $8 for a shot of jager... I hope i have answered your question message me if you have any more!! Thanks!! Hope you guys have a GREAT anniversary!!

  4. If you're gonna have a good time take plenty of $$.

Like the others here say it's like a grown up Chucky Cheese. The one where I live they put kids out at a certain time so that it's then ADULT time. You two will enjoy it. Make sure you have a camera and a video phone will come in handy!!!  lol

  5. Dave and Buster's is similar to Chuck e Cheese except for Adults and kids but they have a restaurant there that serve everything. Their food is not that great but they have good alcoholic drinks. I like that place. The power cards are like debit cards, you can buy the power cards in any amount and the games that you play deducts points off the power card. To have a great time I would say at least $50 or more, but it depends on how long you want to be there, if it is all day, then over $50 and then the tickets you win from the games, you redeem them in the store for prizes like Chuck e Cheese. Have fun :)

  6. You two are either idiots or juveniles. Dave and Buster's for an anniversary? It is a game place and bar, food is secondary. As far as an 'investment' in a power card, you are throwing money away. An investment is something you put money into in the hope of it growing. Your trip to Dave and Buster's, besides being unromantic, is an investment in their owner's pocket.
