Can anyone tell me about George's Greek restaurant in Southampton. Is service/food good or somewhere better?

  1. George's is ok.  I wasnt keen but am not a huge Greek food lover to be honest and it was a while ago that i went.  I would recommend anywhere on Oxford Street in Southampton.  Oxfords Brasserie and Oxfords Restaurant are nice, or the Olive Branch.

  2. I used to live in Southampton and used George's a lot back in the late 1980's.

Back then it was just about OK, but past it's best.  God only knows what it will be like now - 15 years later.  If they haven't invested some money in the decor it will be a dump by now.

There are lots of far better restaurants in Southampton, but not all are child friendly.  Also, Georges was quite good value for money - so if you are on a budget you might find them hard to beat on price.

If you are looking for alternatives, try the following:

The Bouzey Rouge at The Bargate

TGI Friday is always good for a family party - child friendly and right on top of your hotel

Merchants at Ocean Village (not sure child friendly)

La Lupa on High Street (good Italian)

    La Regatta at Porters Quay

    have a good 40th !!

  3. Not a lot of help, however many years ago it was one of the best places to eat in Southampton.

  4. georges resteraunt is a great place to eat but be warned you must be hungary the portions are large and a great value for money the atmosphere for special occassions is great and the staff will make your visit well worthwile hope this is usefull and enjoy.
