Im planning a trip to Switzerland soon, but the thing is that I have heard some talk of European racism. I haven't heard anything specifically about Switzerland, but i've heard that some of the countries nearby to Switzerland have a record of not being very friendly with people who have darker skin.

I was wondering if anyone knew more about this and if they could tell me before I take my trip.

  1. Not as far as I know , much less than I have seen here !

  2. I disagree with above answers, I lived in Zurich for 3 years and I can say from experience that you might feel some sort of racism in shops or restaurants. I am a white Brazilian and felt many times discriminated in Switzerland for being Latina. I was married to a half Swiss half Indian guy, who suffered a lot of racism at school and still is many times treated as a non Swiss just because of his darker color skin. Service in Switzerland is anyway very poor, so sometimes you might confuse the unfriendliness with racism. I should not generalize tho, as there are lots of nice, polite and open minded Swiss people. Just wanted to advice you about the facts and my tip is just dont take it personal and have fun, but in case someone mistreats you, just give him/her ****. cheers

  3. whoever tells this garbage  to you kick his or her a...ss

  4. I wouldn't worry about that in Western Europe.  The Swiss are especially tolerant people.
