Vannes is an ancient town that dates from before the Roman conquest of Gaul. it had a robust economy based on both fishing and trade in the middle ages and much of its medieval center is preserved.

Weather is Brittany is mainly a factor orf proximately to the ocean and is generally cool with abundant rainfuall. Temperature at this time of year ranges from the high to the low 40's (Fahrenheit).
