  1. Well, that really depends on what you would be doing in the airline industry.

A pilot is not required to know any language except English.  All radio traffic is conducted in English.

Flight attendants "should" know the language of the host country they are working for and English.  So in this case, German and English.  A flight attendant for Luftahnsa should be able to speak German and English.

If working at the ticket counter, check in, baggage claim, or anywhere else in the airport, it is vital to speak German.  English is optional (but highly recommended).

Make no mistake about it.  Living in Germany is difficult (at best) if you don't speak German.  You will have to function outside of the workplace on a daily basis.  It is not required for normal residents to speak English and they DO expect you, living and working in Germany, to speak German.

  2. Good morning, it's not required to know the german language when working in the aviation. Everybody speeks english in this jobs and a lot of foreigners are empolyed there.

Certainly it is helpful to learn a little bit of german.

I'm working in the aviation too - don't hesitate asking more...
