Can anyone tell me about a French site where I can chat in French?

I'm currently studying French and I need to practice the language with a native speaker. Someone advised me to go to French chat rooms. What do u think?

i think u should go in yahoo messenger and then search room from its locations...there u can find the france rooms...and u can chat there...anyways comment' tu'ta appelle...

you will have to sign in and get a french e-mail and you can see on the main page a link to chat rooms. but french people use slang and abbreviations A LOT so it can be hard for you to understand everything... good luck

Actual "French chat rooms" are just like American chat rooms... full of creepy weirdos and SMS/text speech.  Expect to see a lot of "mdr tu fé koi" and "a/s/v" and "je px avoir ton photo??"...

Personally I recommend http://www.french-chat.com , which promotes contact between native speakers and people learning French in a more "intelligent"/educationally conducive atmosphere.  There are almost always moderators present, and text speech is not allowed.
