  1. I did not have one done when I heard there was an increase in my possibilities of miscarrying!

  2. Why are they offering you one? Are you at high risk for something? Usually they do not offer it unless there is a specific risk issue such as the triple screen coming back with a high risk for genetic issues, etc., so if you believe your pregnancy to be healthy then I wouldn't do it as there is no reason to have an amnio.

  3. there is a risk of miscarriage my midwife said 2o% so i did not have one.,

I also decided even if my baby had a disability i would never of terminated it any way

i dont know why it increases miscarrige but if you want to keep your baby what ever the out come dont have it

  4. There is an increased risk of m/c but if something is possible wrong then having it done and finding out for sure is sometimes worth that risk. Especially for severe defects.

I personally would not get it done unless the Dr thought something was seriously wrong and that it really needed to be done. I would probably still get a 2nd opinion before doing it.

  5. There is a definite risk of miscarriage with the amnio. Like many of the other tests in pregnancy, we have found out that this one can cause more problems than it is meant to prevent. The womb is meant to be an enclosed environment and inserting a needle through the womb and drawing fluid can disturb the pregnancy. Good choice in not taking the amnio. Best wishes, G
