  1. famous...Swan Lake - it's absolutely beautiful...i was amazed when i saw it at the Royal Albert Hall!!

sorry..don't know about the history of it though.

  2. ballet was started by King Louis XIV of France and has grown since then. pointe shoes werent invented until much later on ( i think about the late 1800s). some famous ballets today are: swan lake, Firebird, and Romeo and Juliette just to name a few. some of the top ballet companies are Bolshoi, American Ballet Theatre (in NYC), the Royal Ballet Company and a company in Tokyo who's name i cannot remember.

  3. Here, everything you need to know about Ballet all in one place.

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ballet

It says ballet emerged in the late15th century Renaissance court of Italy, as a dance interpretation of fencing.

Well well, I didn't know that.

  4. I'll just tell you everything I know in point form:

♥ Ballet is the basic form of dance.

♥ It's where jazz, modern, and even tap come from.

♥ It helps you be more graceful in other dance.

♥ It was discoverd in France, so that's why all the words are in French.

Some famous ballets are:The Nutcracker Sweet, Beauty And The Beast, Cinderella, Sleeping Beauty.

  5. well....Ballet began to develop in the mid 1400’s during the renaissance when people began to take more interest in the arts. In 1581, Le Ballet Comique de la Reine was preformed in France in honor of a royal wedding. This is considered to be one of the first ballet performances and was an immediate success with the French court. France became the center of the ballet world when King Louis the XIV of France founded the L’Academie Royale de la Danse(now known as the Paris Opera Ballet) to train dancers professionally to perform for his court. Because of this, the vocabulary that is used in ballet originates mostly from the French language. The Russians and Italians also established schools for Ballet soon after. In the early 1800’s, women began to dance en pointe, or on their toes. Although France was still the dance center of the world, Russia was catching up quickly creating their own prestigious school, Russian Imperial Ballet of St. Petersburg. - haha i actually wrote a paper on this and this was part of the intro info i used...

There are soooo many famous pieces of choreography:

  6. iheardta is right. just to add one thing, king louis had a natural turnout when he walked (feet at 10 to 2), im not sure why perhaps he had rickets or shomething as a child but because of this the dancers also turned out as a sort of respect to the king.  of course this turnout has to come from the hips or there would be too much strain on the knees.
