Can anyone tell me about buying power?

I heard this term mentioned briefly in a conversation with a old friend. Not really sure what it means. Hope someone can explain it to me.

That is a pretty broad term that can mean a lot of things.  Most commonly I refer to it in reference to the value of my money in a given market.  For example, in Mexico my U.S. dollar has more buying power than it does in say...London.
