Can anyone tell me about the details of Rail Yatri Niwas at Chandigarh & Kalka?

The Chandigarh "Rail Yatri Niwas" is nothing but the retiring room facility that is available in the railway station itself.  I may add to the information provided by the above poster, that the retiring rooms are double bedded and during some seasons, the station attempts to allocate the room on per bed basis!

They are allotted on first come - first served basis and you can also make "advance reservation" as per procedure below:

Only those holding a valid ticket for and inward/outward journey are eligible to apply for the use of the Retiring Rooms and Dormitory Beds. Application form are available with the Station Managers/ Matron in charge of the Retiring Room/ Dormitories. You are also required to present your journey tickets along with the completed Application Form. The Station Managers/ Matron, based on availability will allot the rooms/beds. The genuineness of the passengers holding the ticket, will be verified prior to the allotment of rooms/beds. You will also be required to pay the stipulated charges, before the keys of the room are handed over. Retiring rooms are normally reserved for a period of 24 hours. At some stations, these can be booked for 12 hours also. Booking of the retiring rooms is done at the station, where it is located. In case the retiring rooms is occupied for more than one day, the charges for the subsequent days will be 25% more for each day. Normally retiring room is not allotted for more than two days.

At Kalka, there is only a non-A/c double bedded retiring room and the charges are Rs. 100/ per 24 hour and on a per bed basis, the charges are Rs. 75 per 24 hours.

A full fledged Rail Yatri Niwas in Chandigarh is yet to become operational; these contracts are to be awarded on public-private partnership basis by IRCTC

Chandigarh has 1 AC and 1 non AC room and the rent is 200/- 24 Hrs. 100/- 24 Hrs.
