Can anyone tell me about the old walkway leading to the northen line city branch at euston station?

i work on the underground and use an old walk way to store tools. whilst in there i found old posters from the war on the walls and a large shaft. i went down the shaft and found a door with an old sign saying army personel only. and became interested. can anyone tell me anything about it?

It could be the tunnel linking to the original street level building for Euston (Charing Cross, Euston & Hampstead Railway) Underground station, located on the opposite side of Melton Street.

Alternatively, it could be part of the station that was closed off when the new layout was brought fully into use in 1969.

Euston Underground was extensively remodelled at the time the Victoria Line was built, particularly on the Northern City branch, so something resulting from that might be where you are going. Also, there was a plan to build a high speed tube to relieve congestion on the Northern West End branch and tunnels were built, certainly for some way beneath Goodge Street. There is a site on dsiused underground stations but I cannot find anything on Euston particularly

I'm not to sure about the actual location of this tunnel, but i know the sort of thing you mean.

To elaborate on the previous answer, the building in Cobourg Street is the site of both the Victoria and Northern Line control rooms, although the Northern Line is currently having a new one built in the vicinity of HIghgate sidings.

It's one of the long since disused subways that was taken out of passenger use when the old station buildings in Coburg Street were demolished. (That's when there were two separate Northern line stations there).

As a point of interest, the site at street level is now occupied by the Vic line control room.
