Can anyone tell me about their experience in the Air Force?

I just enlisted in May and I leave for basic training October 28th. I am really excited!! I have spoken with my recruiter about Air Force life but I don't know if he would tell me the truth about everything because he is a recruiter! I am interested in knowing how it is to work with a bunch of kids.. [I am only 21 but most low ranking people are around 18] Is there a lot of immaturity in the workplace? How is life on base? Is it hard to find a boyfriend/girlfriend in the military? Did you regret enlisting? Where did the Air Force send you, and did you like it?

  1. I've been in for nine years. I love what I do.

One thing you need to know is don't listen to everything your recruiter says. The first year or so in the Air Force is gonna suck I'm not gonna lie. During that first year you are treated like a child and forced to be around a bunch of dumbasses. You are forced to do a bunch of ridiculous stuff.

After your done with all of your initial training and tech school and you make it to your first base its cool. I have changed afsc 3 times. If you dont like what job you get or you get bored easy, just cross train. I love the AF and I plan on retiring.

Life on base is just like life in a small town.

It's easy to find a a mate cause everyone knows all the dumb ugly people join other services and all us s**y smart peeps join the AF

Just remember, like anything else in life you get outta it what you put into it.

Besides you make pretty good money, excellent benefiets, and it sure beats the h**l outta getting a real job!

If you have any other specific questions just let me know.
