  1. The install will take between 4-7 hours.  When the tech shows up they will want to see the basement or the point where your other utilities enter your home.  From there they will need an open AC outlet for the BBU (battery back up unit) this provides dial tone should you loose power.  Next the tech will ask where your computer is so they will know where to place the router.  They will also want to know where all the TV's are that are getting a STB (set top box).  Once you both know where all the equipment will be placed the tech will start the install.  You will get a new fiber "drop" place from the pole to your home, the copper will be removed unless you ask for it to be left in place.  You will get a new ONT (optical network terminal) which will convert the fiber signal back to one that your equipment can read.  The tech will then come back in and finish wireing the ONT & BBU.  Your copper phone wires will be moved over from the NID to the new ONT, the coax will be moved from your current provider to the ONT, and if need be a ethernet wire will be run to the router.  Once all the services are connected into the ONT, the tech will activate the ONT and verify "the light".  Next your dial tone will be tested.  Once the DT is verified the tech will move on to the router/computer install.  You will be asked to provide some info to set up your new Verizon account.  Then the tech will move on to the video portion of the install.  She/he will test the signal strength at each coax ending where the stb will be placed.  If adjustments need to be made they will be made then.  Your new STB's will be installed, initiazide, activated and programmed.  You will be shown how to program your new FIOS remotes, and show about the IMG (interactive media guide), DVR (if you ordered one).  If you have any other questions feel free to ask your installer.
