Can anyone tell me any of the positive or negative aspects of using E-tax to do your own tax return?

I'm ot sure of the positive aspects of using E-tax to do your own tax return, but one negative one is using your ss# number on the internet.  I know they have all kinds of secure sites, but there are many different trojan horse programs on the net and possibly on your own computer that will pick up key strokes, that's why I never enter my ss# on anything internet wise.
