  1. Probably best to tell you where you're talking about. UK and USA have different systems. In England there are

    Reception (Beginning of School 4-5yrs)

    Year 1 - 5-6yrs

    Year 2 - 6-7yrs

    Year 3 - Start Middle School - 7-8yrs

    Year 4 - 8-9yrs

    Year 5 - 9-10yrs

    Year 6 - 10-11yrs

    Year 7 - Start High school - 11-12yrs

    Year 8 - 12-13 yrs

    Year 9 - 13-14 yrs

    Year 10 - 14-15 yrs

    Year 11 - 15-16 yrs

    Year 12 - Start of 6th form (You're out of school) - 16-17 yrs

    Year 13 - 17-18 years

In Year 3 you change from Primary school to middle school.

In Year 7 you change from middle school to high school

In year 11 you get to choose whether you would want to stay in school for an extra two years (Year 12+13) After that it is Uni/College. I think you can start Uni after year 11.

You have tests called SATS which are carried out in years 2, 6 and 9, to judge the school and test how well the school is performing. In year 10 and 11 you start your GCSEs, which are to access you, and also to earn higher degrees, to get you a better job.
