  1. Having intercourse forms a psychological bond. By avoiding intercourse with someone you will not be spending the rest of your life with you avoid the unnecessary emotional entanglement.

Also, you cannot contract an STD.

  2. There's the physical reasons:  you don't have to worry about becoming pregnant or getting STDs.

  3. guess you wouldn't have to regularly trim your nether regions

  4. It's been my experience that not worrying about s*x (i.e. celibacy) frees up alot of mental energy.  I'm not saying that s*x makes you stupid, I'm simply inferring that for us single people it can be a huge distraction from taking care of more relevant business.

On the other side, once in a commited relationship where you once again don't have to "worry" about s*x, then I'm sure it will be a very healthy outlet for pent up energy (frustration, stress).

Either way, as long as s*x isn't the centerpoint of your existence then you'll be better off.

  5. Celibate people do not get STDs or unwanted children. They do not suffer the pain of feeling "used" when the relationship breaks up. s*x often creates a false sense of intimacy causing you to stay in a bad relationship when you should leave it. Without s*x clouding your judgment you'll make better decisions about the relationship.
