Can anyone tell me how can any war of any type, be a task from God?

Sarah Palin stated that the war in Iraq was simply a task from God. How can someone feel that senseless killing for oil is part of God's plan and at the same time be anti abortion?

  1. You ask several questions; one reading of your post is that it's a rhetorical question/rant rather than a true question.  So I'll ignore the part about the senseless killing for oil and the confusion most of us have over pro-lifers tending to be pro-death-penalty and pro-war, and answer the question at face value.

First, I'd say that Palin doesn't think the war in Iraq is senseless or is for oil.

Second, the usual example people give of a just war (not sure about a task from God, mind you), is the U.S. involvement in WW2.  Defending one's nation against attack is just, defending a people against genocide is just, and if one is religious, I'm sure there are lots of ways to justify justice.  We may mourn killing, but it is not always senseless.  E.g., it is sad that German human beings were killed in WW2, but it would be sadder if n***s ruled the world now.

Like Obama, Palin gives a great speech but doesn't always have the firmest grip on what I'd consider political reality.  I'll vote against McCain and her because I oppose their policies, not because one of them says something goofy.  There will be plenty of goofy statements on both sides before it's over.

  2. Ask Abraham and his son Isaac.

  3. Lisa,

It is God's will that every person on the internet send me $10.00. Sound familiar?

  4. There are in fact times in the Bible in which God ordered the war of killing of a group of people.  WITH GOOD REASON!  You'll have to ask in R&S to get the answer, but I would be happy to give it on that forum.

The war in Iraq was a task from God, to take an evil oppressive dictator out who wished to do harm to the world, not only his people.  It has been a hard road, but it is becoming VICTORY this day and the Iraqi people are beginning to stand adequately on their own, with a major decrease in violence, even less in some areas of the USA.  So there is victory happening.

And the planes flown into our territory and killed thousands was okay for you then?  Hmmm.  If we aren't prepared, it WILL happen again.

On another note, which really, you should ask in R&S, this all sets the stage for prophecy to be fullfilled.  Accurately as alwasy, straight from God's Word.  Again, for detail on that, you'll have to post in R&S section for answers.

Anti-abortion, well, these CHILDREN are innocent, having NOT yet sinned, though, in their nature when they mature, they would eventually make a choice to do so, but also possibly make a choice to be forgiven by Christ.

Hmmm, and what if one of or many of the aborted CHILDREN were the child sent to grow into an adult who HAD THE ANSWER to many of the questions some continuely post, like, why doesn't God heal cancer.  Maybe one of these children had that knowledge, but humanity decided to murder them instead!

Speaking of KILLING, war time killings does not always violate the commandment either.  The commandment is to not murder which is an UNJUSTIFIED killing, which does in fact differ from other types of killings.  Some wars are justified and some are not.  Iraq was justified in many ways, especailly in that it was defensive.  Again, post a question in R&S to get more details on that.

The war i snot all about oil, it is also about dictators who threaten the entire world and removing them from leadership.  They kill their own and others, but that is okay I guess if they do as long as it isn't another fighting for the RIGHTS of those people that are nto living among them.  But their leader can do it, right?

Bring your questions to the R&S section to see how it is justified by God.

Sarah Palin is a refreshing regular American who knows how to deal with governmental issues and how to give American and the american people (even those not born yet) their RIGHTS!

  5. If we are going to talk about God, then we have to stpiluate that we will use the Bible as reference.  And as such, we find several times in the bible where war was used.  When the Egyptians would not allow the Hebrews to leave Egypt, the first born egyptian was killed.  When they followed, the Red Sea closed upon them and killed them.

The Bible also says "thou shalt not murder".  Often it is incorrectly translated to "thou shalt not kill".  but the difference means everything.

  8. When the Israelites were liberated from Egypt and on their way to the Promised Land by way of the wilderness, Amelek victimized the stragglers who lagged behind the traveling group of God’s people (Deuteronomy 25:17-19). For this God decreed that war would be waged against Amelek....Exodus 17:14-16 – “Then the Lord said to Moses, “Write this for a memorial in the book and recount it in the hearing of Joshua, that I will utterly blot out the remembrance of Amalek from under heaven.”15 And Moses built an altar and called its name, The-Lord-Is-My-Banner;16 for he said, “Because the Lord has sworn: the Lord will have war with Amalek from generation to generation.”

Genesis 14:13-16 – “Then one who had escaped came and told Abram the Hebrew, for he dwelt by the terebinth trees of Mamre the Amorite, brother of Eshcol and brother of Aner; and they were allies with Abram.14 Now when Abram heard that his brother was taken captive, he armed his three hundred and eighteen trained servants who were born in his own house, and went in pursuit as far as Dan.15 He divided his forces against them by night, and he and his servants attacked them and pursued them as far as Hobah, which is north of Damascus.16 So he brought back all the goods, and also brought back his brother Lot and his goods, as well as the women and the people.” Genesis 14:17-24 – “And the king of Sodom went out to meet him at the Valley of Shaveh (that is, the King’s Valley), after his return from the defeat of Chedorlaomer and the kings who were with him.18 Then Melchizedek king of Salem brought out bread and wine; he was the priest of God Most High.19 And he blessed him and said: 1 “Blessed be Abram of God Most High, Possessor of heaven and earth;20 And blessed be God Most High, Who has delivered your enemies into your hand.” And he gave him a tithe of all.”

War is commonly referred to in the Bible as such. And the Bible does also refer to every life as precious....

That being said, it doesn't really matter because religion and politics shouldn't be mixed together...

"...here without anger or resentment I bid you farewel. Sincerely wishing, that...the example which ye have unwisely set, of mingling religion with politics, may be disavowed and reprobated by every inhabitant of America."

    -Thomas Paine

  9. there are plenty examples in the bible! you should try reading it some time. I might give you moral clarity

  10. It can't be. God and Jesus are about peace, hope, and love.

    Matthew 5:38-45

"Ye have heard that it hath been said, An eye for an eye, and a tooth for a tooth: But I say unto you, That ye resist not evil: but whosoever shall smite thee on thy right cheek, turn to him the other also. And if any man will sue thee at the law, and take away thy coat, let him have thy cloak also... Ye have heard that it hath been said, Thou shalt love thy neighbor, and hate thine enemy. But I say unto you, Love your enemies, bless them that curse you, do good to them that hate you, and pray for them which despitefully use you, and persecute you..."

    Mark 12:28-31

"Jesus answered... the second [foremost commandment, after loving God] is this, 'You shall love your neighbor as yourself.'"

  11. 1) it's not for oil, but hey why let facts get in the way of a good story.

    2) most wars are said to be God's will, check any history book. Ever head of the Crusades?
