  1. does it have legs?.... almost every firepit shown here is on stone or concrete surface.... none are protected with anything... I'd guess because the air circulation under the firepit keeps the heat from causing a problem.... I would want pavers or brick under one if it was to be used on a wood deck, tho.... maybe some of that stuff they sell at fireplace stores for around wood burners in the house.....

  2. It will take more than a couple of inches above the concrete.

Have you thought of setting patio pavers in 3 or 4 layers high

to prevent the burning of the concrete.?

  3. well that depends on what u mean my harming it. fire wont do much but darken the concrete. but if u dont want that happening, i would give it at least a couple of inches of space.

  4. Fire too close to concrete can cause it to 'pop' (flake off chunks from the top), if the fire is hot enough and burns long enough. A (manufactured) firepit is usually elevated enough to prevent this. I think 4 inches or so would be fine. Mine is about this height, and above my concrete patio. I`ve used it a couple of years, pretty extensively,  with no problems. If you are in doubt, purchase a large concrete stepping stone and put under it, or just use a couple of inches of sand.
