  1. Most times when you wd a child from public school they will insist on knowing the name of the new school.

Most school districts have rules on the materials you use to home school and usually require that it is approved by the district there.

You can always go with an online charter school. I have done it BOTH ways and using the help of an online school where you are supplied with books, materials, the computer, printer, and teachers. It is definitely the easier way to go. They also take care of any testing that is required by the state.

I am not sure where you live but here is the one I am currently using, if you need anymore help always feel free to email me. Here is the link to k 12

If you enroll your child in an online school you can wd them immediately form school and just tell them the name of the new online school your child is attending

  2. All you have to do is take your child out of school and tell the principal that your child won't be returning that year or ever. And look into different curriculum and I am pretty sure some of it can get expencsive but I wish you well.

  3. Just do it! If you think it's the best thing for him/her, and you think you're capable of giving him/her the support they need at home, by all means, go for it!

My parents just pulled my younger sister out of public schools. She's in the 9th grade. I just graduated from college, and I'm using this year to dedicate to getting her back on track.

Do what you think is right.

  4. It all depends upon the laws in your state or country.  You can find the laws for your state here:

    http://www.hslda.org/laws/default.asp

  5. As someone else stated start at http://www.hslda.org and look up your State requirments. Once you've fulfilled those it's generally just a matter of telling the school you're withdrawing him/her and doing so.

He/She is still your CHILD and not the States. Also even if he/she bucks you on this YOU are the parent and it's not about what they want it's about what's best for them weather they like it or not. You wouldn't let him walk into oncoming traffic just because he liked it - same with school! If you and hubby are agreed on this and feel it's the best for now then stick to your guns gently but firmly - he/she will come around.

http://www.sonlight.com is a good curriculum to use - heavy reading

http://www.timberdoodle.com has good stuff - alot is for younger ages but they do have some for high school as well.

    Best wishes

  6. ive been homeschooled and i go to public school. i wouldnt try to force your 10th grader out of school if he/she doesnt want to be homeschooled. i liked public school better because its more social, and thats really important to a teen.

  7. A child can drop out of school in the United States at 16. You can home school in the US if you are qualified to do so.  In some states you have to register a lesson plan. There are home school groups everywhere. Call your local community center for contact information.

  8. Check and see what your state laws for homeschooling are and if you qualify.  Then simply do what the law requires.

  9. personally from my perspective there is no way that ur going to.

my mom tried to get me to go back to homeschool after being in public school for 5 years.

it is going to be impossible.

And personally u should let him/her make the choice. because other wise if u force him/her in to homeschooling it will suck for them and u both. and the will resent u and i for the rest of thier lives!

  10. First take a look at your state laws

    http://www.hslda.org/laws/default.asp

This will help you determine what you'll need to do to take your child out of school and start homeschooling legally. (Homechool is legal throughout the US but laws from state to state vary)

Type 'your state homeschooling' into any search engine to find local homeschooling groups. The members of these groups will typically be able to give you lots of info insofar as curriculum, activities, local college requirements, etc.

You'll need to start putting together an idea of the subjects your child needs to finish and how he/she will be learning them (curriculum-in-a-box, online, self-led, etc) There are a myriad of curricula choices available, and it would help to have an idea beforehand of what you need before you start looking (to avoid being overwhelmed).

Most colleges in the US are actively recruiting homeschoolers now, so with good ACT/SAT scores and a decent transcript you'll have absolutely no admissions problems.

    Best of luck to you!
