  1. You do realize that the "Impact" taxes that you would have to pay to the Costa Rica customs officials to bring your car into the country  is exactly what its value would be here in the United States do you not?

If your car is worth $25,000 here - your impact taxes there would be $25,000!

And you can not get around it!

Sell it here and Buy one there!

That is the best way to go!

  2. you can ship it or drive through central America, which isn't recommendable, the best thing is to buy one over there! it's cheaper than sending it.

  3. sell your car, and buy one when you get over there if you need one that badly, i do not kno of any other way

  4. Send it via ocean freight, when it arrive if you are not Costa Rican you can drive it for 3 months with a special permit, but after that you will need to pay the respective taxes.

You can send it either to Limon Port or to Caldera Port.

If you need help let us know.

  5. From personal experience, you are better off buying a car when you get there.  The import taxes will kill you.  We imported a 1996 dodge ram pick up there in 2002 and it cost over 8,000.00.
