Question:

Can anyone tell me how similar snow skateboarding and regular skateboard?

anything from specific shoes i need to where, to if i still need griptape or not, or anything you think i should know. it may seem like an obvious question but i honestly don't know and would like to know.

  1. The two are very similar.  The speed and turning ability for snowskating is largely based on the condition and depth of the snow.  Most snowskates are glass filled nylon with grooves running down the board.  They have an exaggerated nose and tail.

    The shoes you need are specific to snowskating  they look like regular skate shoes, but have a few different features..  They are waterproof, have a neoprene gaiter at the top to keep snow out.   They also have a different tread pattern to help stay on the board when snow builds up.  I ride with the Vans Motley.

    Snowskates don;t have skateboard grip tape. Instead they have a foam grip that remains soft and grippy in the cold and wet.  The foam is similar to that of marine grip used on PWCs and towboats.


  2. erm well SNOWBOARDING is a bit different, you have BNDINGS, but idiotic skaters dont know that... they dont even know that its mant for the CITY and not the MOUNTAINS :P
