Can anyone tell me how they solved the drainage(canalization) problem in Venice - Italy?

  1. Just went to Venice in May and they haven't fixed it yet, most of the buildings bottom floors are unusable because of the years of seasonal flooding. However they are planning to make a levee type d**n to keep the water level constant despite water flow conditions or rain. Venice was basically built in a swampy area and over the years it has sunk several feet. The city wants to lower the water level to where the lower city levels can be restored and used again. (That will cost home owners and buisnesses a ton of money but will allow people to actually have their own boats parked outside.) Please realize this all has to do with "old" venice. The modern parts of venice have cars, roads, hotels and companies.......that never flood because they are built on higher ground.


  2. With the Mose project, which works are in progress: basically a system of remote controlled small dams.
