Can anyone tell me how to catch catfish with my hands?

I know this is totally "Red Neck" but I really want to try it!!! Noodling, Grappling, Dogging, whatever you call it, When is the best time to go, what water habitat do you look for, how do you know its a cat and not a beaver? Even just tell me your stories!!!

Not being from the south I've always thought this is the most moronic idea ever.Seems to me if you know a fish is there just drop some bait in front of them and they will bite.

that is a sport done in many states like mississippi, its where you go into the water find a whole or a big rock with a little burrow under it in the water. Then stick your hand down there and the catfish will bite you hand and you grab its mouth and bring it up. Be careful some states its illegal. beavers wont be under the rocks so dont worry and any time you can go, just day is better cause you know where your reaching.

is what you do, is find where there are catfish, make a fist with your hand, and put it into the water. The catfish will bite onto your fist. you then pull your hand out of the water.

It doesn't hurt, but most people are afraid to do it.

From my understanding of this sport, you are supposed to swim along the bank edge looking for holes along the sides of it. You stick your hand in the holes and do a quick prayer in hopes that it's not housing a snapping turtle. You feel around and entice the catfish with your fingers to bite your hand. When it does, you grab it and pull it out with all your might and hope you don't drown in the process.The catfish isn't letting go and it's up to you to reach the surface.

Eventually you will get bitten by a turtle and end up like many who have lost a finger or two. I hope you aren't an accountant or work the internet much because that's really gonna suck. Talk about hunt and peck, you'll be all day trying to text some one or send an email.
