Can anyone tell me how to install a pneumatic door closer on a screen door that opens inward onto a porch?

We are installing vinyl screen panels and a vinyl screen door on our front porch. The screen door will swing into the porch (as it is at the top of the porch stairs). Does anyone know if or how we can install the pneumatic door closer on the door? We don't want it on the outside as it will ruin the look of the Victorian Screen door.

  1. If it is a Victorian style screen door you need to intall a spring to stay in keeping with the era.

But...you will have seen a pneumatic reverse acting door closer but will not have recognised it.

They do not look like the standard type as they are  hydraulic/spring action and you won't see them on a screen door very often. Generally you see them on office or factory doors, they have a elbow joint in the the arm and this fits clear of the top of the door on the inside or outside.

You may not get them from your average hardware store but they are easily obtainable from the industrial supplies places.

"Norton" is one brand that I know of.

    Hope this helps
