  1. Srisailam, 232 km south of Hyderabad, is situated on the banks of river Krishna. On the south bank of the river, on a 457 metre high hill, is the Bhramarambha Mallikarjunaswamy Temple. The presiding deity, Sri Mallikarjunaswamy, is one of the 12 ‘Jyotirlingams’ in India. A massive fort, with walls 6 metre high encloses the temple.

A cluster of minor shrines within the temple enclosures include the ‘Sahasra Linga’ ‘Panchapandava Temples’ and ‘Vata Vriksha’.

At Sikharam, the highest of the Srisailam hills, is Sikhareswara Swamy, a temple dedicated to Lord Shiva and Sri Ganapati Temple, dedicated to Lord Ganesh.

It will be all dry now...........only better place to be in is the srisailam dam where u can have some swim..........

I suggest you to go by AP toursim bus and stay in their hotel...its very convinient thing to do........

  4. Have a blessed yatra.

    You have  options :

    Option 1.

You can  hire a private taxi -- especially if you want to get around Srisailam with ease -- If you're planning to drive from Hyderabad to Srisailam, take this route:

Rethibowli ring road-Straight-Right near Kababish-Tukkuguda Village-Kandukur Village-Amangal town-Dindi-Mannanur Checkpost and Wildlife Reserve- Srisailam. The drive takes about 6+ hours, allowing for several little breaks.

Get recommendations on alchohol-free  drivers with experience who can negotiate the mountainous-ghat roads (Nallamalai hills) well. Ask around for prevailing rates as well. to fit  your time frame. This is a scenic drive where you get to see the Srisailam Dam, The The Wild-Life Reserve for Tigers on your way, not to mention verdant greenery and unspoilt natural surroundings.

Sri Sailam can be reached by bus or taxi, driving 6-7 hours (220 km) from Hyderabad or 5 hours (aprox. 175 km) from Kurnool. The road is liberally peppered with small villages  and slowing down when nearing them is wise as well as safe --- as chickens, cows, buffaloes and people cross the road, totally oblivious of traffic. After 4½ hours drive from Hyderabad the road goes through the dense Nallamalai Forest and a harsh mountain drive where several u-turns come up unexpectedly. The terrain is rugged and winding gorges slice through the Nallamalai hills. A little over 6 sq km in area, The Rollapadu grasslands near Srisailam that cover an area of a little over 6km, are home to about a hundred blackbucks. Many historical monuments dating back to the 1st and 2nd century AD have been excavated at Nagarjunasagar, which is also home to a large d**n built on the river Krishna and adjacent to the forest. The sanctuary has restricted access mainly because of the tiger population. It is advisable to go by daylight as the roads are in poor condition. From Sri Sailam to Kurnool the road is onetracked for aproximately two hours drive through the hilly forest.

    Option 2

    Conducted Tours to Sreesailam Temple

The Andhra Pradesh Travel & Tourism Development Corporation operates package tours from Hyderabad to Srisailam every week. The tour begins at 11:30 am on Saturdays and ends at 9:00 pm on Sundays (week long).

    Option 3

Srisailam is well connected to all towns in AP by state buses. (APSRTC) and Devasthanam buses.

For service from Hyderabad to Srisailam, tickets and reservations can be made at the Central Bus station. Hyderabad. The approximate travel time from Hyderabad to Srisailam is 6 hours.

    To stay:

There are lots of budget hotels and lodges around the Mallikarjuna Swami Temple in Srisailam. Most of these do not require any prior reservation except during peak seasons and festivals, and most Mondays. The Andhra Pradesh Tourism Department runs a few hotels by name Ganga Sadan, Gouri Sadan and Punnami Guest House. These are clean and well maintained, and are within the budget of most pilgrims. There are also some lodges and choultries that cater to particular communities.
