friend=tomodachi (japanese)

If you want to say a friend that is close say yuujin　(友人).

A friend can also be tomodachi (友達), but it's more childish in Japanese.

Family is kazoku (家族).

Friend in Chinese is peng2 you5 朋友

Family is jia1 ting2 家庭

Tanaka is correct for her Japanese. I don't know Chinese to back her up.

But, I think if people are going to follow Tanaka around to give her a thumbs down, you should give everyone else that answers a thumbs up.  It's obvious you are following her by only giving her a thumbs down.
