Can anyone tell me if Australia has red harvest ants? If so are they harmful.?

Australia has Red Harvest Ants, they don't have them in great numbers.  I believe that they are an imported species and not a native one.  As a rule Red Harvest Ants are not considered dangerous, but there are rare cases were people have had allergic reactions to their sting that have caused death.  Usually their sting is just a minor announce.  Red Harvest Ants are popular as a species used in ant farms sold as a hobby farms for young people to observe.
