Can anyone tell me if adding bank account is necessary to paypal to receive money?

I have registered for a paypal account and I have an account now. It may take a month more for me to get bank account as I have to submit papers and proofs. So, if anyone sends money to my paypal Id in the mean time, will it be funded to my paypal account? or having a bank account is a must to receive payment?
