Can anyone tell me if "Flowers in the attic" by Virgina Andrews is based on a true story?

I am desperate to know this, its one of my favourite books and it doesnt state if its based on true events or not...if it is, what was the real true story?

I read the book some years ago. As a result, I did some digging.

It was claimed to be based on fact. The resulting hoohah and (i seem to remember) court action, brought the claims into some doubt. Like anything else, of a sensational nature, once the writs started flying, it went pretty dead.

The best that can be said of it is that it is fiction, firmly based on fact. There are plenty of cases, on the public record, which reflect the issues in the book.

I am not sure whether fact or fiction, but did you know that the Dollanganger series carries on after this book? The titles are as follows

'Flowers in the Attic'

'Petals on the Wind'

'If there be Thorns'

'Seeds of Yesterday'

'Garden of Shadows'

I loved reading the series and was quite sad and emotional about the whole story. Excellent. Happy reading.

Sorry but I have not heard about that book for years I read it when I was a young teen, I think a couple in that series were based on true events but cannot state its 100 pc accurate.
