  1. Typically, they are very noisy.  They do not bark, but more like a howl.  This can be for any reason, or for no reason at all!

  2. they are and will run to food if they see it or smell it

  3. Absolutely yes! They have the trademark AROOOO sound. It's called baying or a "bay". I love Beagles!

  4. Yes, they are.  They like to bay as well as bark.  They can be trained, but by nature, they're a very vocal breed.

  5. Yes they are.

  6. my parents have a beagle mix.. and her father was our dog as well..

He was not very loud.. and hardly barked

She on the other hand barks a lot and whines quite a bit too

  7. Yes!  Definately Yes!  I have a beagle named Lacey and have had numerous beagles throughout my life and they all have been very vocal, with each having their own sound.  My beagles have always barked at anything and everything and you can't get them to shut up, but I there is something about them that I love.  So anyway, if you live in the country a beagle would be the way to go!

  8. Yes, very vocal. Go look at them at some pet stores :D But i guess it really depends on the dog and where they are.

  9. YES! Very vocal. I used to have one but had received too many complaints from neighbors due to the barking. I feel that giving him to a friend was a better choice than to train him not to bark. It is in their nature for that type of dog to bark/bay. It is a VERY loud and low bark for both males and females.

  10. Yes they are but they are also nice pets as long as trained and confines..they are roamers!..They tend to follow there noses!! but nice friendly gentle dogs!

  11. extremely vocal!

  12. I have a 3 year old beagle and i very rarely hear her bark... maybe a few times?? It just all depends on the dog...

  13. Vocal is an understatement.  Our beagle thinks that he owns the neighborhood and will howl at anything he sees in the window or while he's in the yard, especially other dogs or people.  He also howls if someone other than myself or my husband come in the house.  At one point I bought one of those bark-control collars but I didn't have the heart to use it.  It's a natural thing for him to howl and we knew that when we bought a beagle so we deal with it.

  14. They are hunting dogs-very vocal-they bay not bark-very annoying sound unless your hunting

  15. Yes, extremely vocal.  They're a hunting breed, it's part of what they were bred to do.

  16. Yes, always look up more info and get a book if you are interested in a breed before you get it especially if you like peace and quiet and you get a beagle.

  17. My beagle is almost silent at home, but when he sees a rabbit he will not shut up, and when you leave the house they cry.

  18. Yes they are very vocal.  If on a walk and they see another dog then they will definitely bay.  With good training, though, they can be pretty quiet dogs, and bay for only 1 or 2 seconds after seeing another dog.
