A single Alpine SWR-1242D 12" subwoofer with a SONY XPLOD XM-GTR2022 amp. the sub is a dual voice coil 4-ohm and is 500w rms. the amp is class ab bridgeable 2- ch. with 500w rms (continous), bridged

202W x 2 rms (continuous) @ 4 ohms

250W x 2 rms (continuous) @ 2 ohms, 20-100HZ @ 1% THD+N

do not know what any of that means. can someone please tell me if this would work together and if the sound quality would be almost at its best to the products capacity?

  1. Honestly, it all depends on how it is hooked up, the size of the box, position of the speakers and a lot of other factors. It sounds like that a good pair but just do some more research before anything. I would recommend that you get on some car audio forums and learn a little bit about what would work best for your car.

I had a 10 inch sub with a amp hooked up in my Eclipse and when I transferred it over to my Sunfire, it never sounded the same. The Eclipse was a hatch where as the Sunfire was a trunk. Different car designs get different results.

  2. it should have some decent bass, but i would recommend a better amp such as a jl audio or a ma audio ect. something of better quality to push that sub to the extreme capabilities it can handle.
