Question:

Can anyone tell me more about Smart Cars

I really want to get a smart car, I am aware that they are small but I don't have any kids or anything and I seriously can't think of any reason why I would need a bigger car than this. It gets amazing gas mileage and is pretty cheap, I've also seen crash tests and they do great. Does anyone have one? Is it a good car?

  1. I know everything about them.

It is true that they are 2 seater cars with no trunk space and are safe.

It does not get amazing gas mileage. It has a 3 cylinder engine with 71HP. It is getting 33mpg city and 41mpg highway.

It should be getting much better than that with an engine that small and a car that light.

It should be getting 36mpg city and 44mpg highway.

It only gets 1-3mpg better than bigger, much faster, more reliable cars like Honda Civic, Toyota Yaris, etc.

    Mercedes Benz owns Smart.

The Smart Fortwo sold in the U.S. has a Mercedes engine.

Mercedes are generally unreliable cars, require premium gas, and are expenisve on maintenance. It is the same with the Smart.

This is also the slowest car available in America.

And it is not cheap considering it came out in 1998 in Europe. It is an old car that people are paying NEW prices for.

The car costs $11,550 with no options such as no power windows or locks or seats, no cd player, etc.

The price goes up to $17,500 for the top of the line convertible version.

This car is a ripoff and will not save you money.

It was an okay car when it came out 10 years ago in Europe, but compared to today's cars, it is not a good car at all.

  2. My 94 Civic also gets 41 mpg. It runs rock solid.  It has 4 seats and has good trunk space.

But it is difficult to get a good 94 Civic.  :-)

    good Luck...
